Robin van Persie will join Manchester United in a projected 24 million pounds (US$291.9 million) deal, from fierce English Premier League rival Arsenal.
A four-year contract has already been agreed, with Van Persie joining on a basic wage of 160,000 pounds a week, which could rise to 200,000 pounds a week, which will also include, bonuses and image rights.
“Manchester United is pleased to announce it has reached an agreement with Arsenal Football Club for the transfer of Robin Van Persie,” said a club statement.
“The deal is subject to a medical and the agreement of personal terms. A further announcement will be made in due course.”
Van Persie stunned Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger when he said after Euro 2012 that he wanted to leave the north London team because he felt the club’s ambitions did not match his own.
