Atlético Madrid got the better of Athletic Bilbao and won the all-Spanish Europa League final 3-0.
Falcao scored in the 7th minute and 34th minute, giving him 29 goals in 29 games over two seasons in Europe’s second-tier club competition.
He striked his first goal in the 7’ as he curled the ball with his left foot around two Bilbao defenders and into the top left-hand corner of the net.
His second came in the 34th minute After stretching to receive a pass from team-mate Arda Turan 10 yards from goal, he performed a flawless turn that reduced Athletic defender Jon Aurtenetxe to a heap of tangled legs on the floor, before crashing a left-footed effort past the despairing Iraizoz.
Diego added another goal in the 85th minute and sealed victory for his club in the Europa League.
Falcao topped the competition’s scoring chart for the second straight year, and the Colombia striker now has 29 goals in 29 games over two seasons in the Europa League.
Atletico, which beat Fulham in the final two years ago, won its last 12 matches in this season’s competition.
