Bayern Munich defeated Marseille 2-0 in the Champions League quarter finals at Munich on Tuesday. Ivica Olic netted in the 13th and 37th minutes for a 4-0 aggregate win, that booked them a Champions League semi-final birth.
Bayern Munich were the definite favourites and were hardly troubled in a routine win as they were already leading 2-0 from the first leg. This is the second semi-final Champions League in three seasons for the German side.
Marseille progressed in the second half and had more ball possession. In the final 15 minutes, Marseille had a good chance when Brando tried to net in the 67th minute but the open header from inside the six-yard box went over the bar.
Bayern Munich eased into the semi-finals of the Champions League and will meet Real Madrid or Apoel Nicosia in the last four.
Bayern have been four-time winners of Europe’s top flight competition. They had previously won 12 of their last 13 games at home in the Champions League, while Marseille lost eight of their last nine games.
