Chelsea has signed Eden Hazard from the French club Lille and the Blues are reportedly paying £32million to the young midfielder, which makes him the second most expensive player in Chelsea’s history behind Fernando Torres.
The 21 year old Belgium international agreed to personal terms and passed a medical examination with the reigning European champions.
Hazard who was strongly linked with a move to Manchester rivals United and City said that, “It`s a dream come true for me,”. “I can`t wait for the season to start so I can meet my new team-mates, the supporters and all the people who are involved.”
He also said that, “For a player it`s all about winning things; I want to win as many trophies as possible, which is another reason why I came here as Chelsea have been winning things for a long time now, and I hope to win many more during my time here.”
Hazard scored 21 goals in 48 appearances for Lille last season, also contributing 18 assists for the club as they finished third in Ligue 1. He signed off by scoring a hat-trick in his final game against Nancy last month. But he failed to live up to his reputation when producing a quiet performance as Belgium lost to England at Wembley on Saturday. His appearance took his tally to 28 caps.
The Blues’ latest addition will certainly be a huge boost for their quest to reclaim the English Premier League next season.
