Churchill Brothers made a mockery of Prayag United’s defence, as they pumped in as many as 5 goals(3 in the first and 2 in the second half) at the Nehru Stadium, Fatorda, in what proved to be a lop-sided contest.
Brazilian striker Roberto Mendes Da Silva netted a double, in the 21st and 35th minute of the game, while Henri Autchouet and Lalrindka Ralte also made the scoresheet. Yusif Yakubu gave hopes for a Prayag comeback, when he scored in the 43rd minute. However, all hopes were dashed, when Sukhen Dey committed a horrible mistake, which resulted in own goal to make it 3-1 in the first half.
It was the same story in the 2nd half, with Churchill dominating most of the game play. They took the lead again, in the 62nd minute through Henri Autchouet’s strike, and put the game to bed when Lalrindka Ralte scored the final goal in the 75th minute. Prayag did managed a consolation goal via Josimar Martins, who took advantage of a mix up between Australian defender Antun Kovacic and custodian Arindam Bhattarcharya in the 80th minute.
Churchill has now moved into 6th spot, while Prayag are one spot below them at 7th place.
