We regret to inform that we are unable to participate in the second semi-final of the Shillong Premier League 2017 scheduled today the 7th of December 2017 in SSA Ground Polo.
Our Team has departed for Kolkata today and will be playing three consecutive I-league away matches (vs East Bengal, vs Mohun Bagan, vs Aizawl FC) and we have only 6 players (without goalkeeper) eligible to be fielded in the second semi-final clash.
Our request to the Shillong Sports Association to postpone the match has been denied and therefore we cannot partake in the second semi-final of the Shillong Premier League.
We respect the efforts of the SSA in promoting football in Meghalaya and do value their historical contribution for the same. However, the times are fast changing and we hope that going forward they will align their calendar with that of the rest of the country and the AIFF and make further improvements in the organisation of the Shillong League.
As consecutive Champions of the SPL for the last three years, we are extremely disappointed that we have not been able to complete our attempt to retain the title and lift it for a historic 4th time consecutively.
