David Beckham will join the Gunners in a bid to keep fit as he considers his next move after leaving LA Galaxy at the end of the MLS season in December.
The former England captain has already started training at Arsenal’s state-of-the-art Hertfordshire training HQ.
He is currently a free agent and in no rush to make his next move as he can sign outside of this transfer window.
Speaking ahead of Arsenal’s meeting with Liverpool on Wednesday, Arsene Wenger said: “He has asked to come here and work on his fitness. He’s not done anything for a long, long time and is trying to get fit again. He called me. It’s purely for fitness. There’s no speculation for signing or anything.
I believe he is coming purely for fitness purposes. We get nothing out of it except questions in the press conference and to help someone who I think deserves it. We are open to people who behave well when they come here.”
