Didier Drogba was in the Capital during the grand finale of the PepsiT20 Football event, to promote ‘T20’ football at the Thyagraj Stadium in New Delhi.
It was Bollywood, cricket and football, that entertained the Delhites on Sunday.
Indian Captain MS Dhoni along with Suresh Raina, Virat Kohli, Harbhajan Singh and M Vijay faced the all India champion which was captained by the Bollywood superstar Ranbir Kapoor in an exhibition football match.
India’s captain, M S Dhoni’s team was coached by Indian football star, Bhaichung Bhutia and Ranbir’s team was coached by Didier Drogba, the man who scored the equalising goal and also the winner, for Chelsea against Bayern Munich in the Champions League final in Munich.
The Thyagraj Stadium, was packed with 4,500 fans in attendance, came to catch a glimpse of former Chelsea striker and top cricketers Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Virat Kohli, Suresh Raina, Harbhajan Singh and Murali Vijay.
Pepsi’s campaign to‘change the game’ was indeed a success and put up a fantastic show for the audience who were dancing inside the stadium.
Ranbir lead the Delhi team from the front and won the All-India challenge against the cricketers.
Drogba scored 157 times in 341 appearances, making him the club’s fourth all-time leading scorer, while his 34 European goals are a Chelsea record.
Drogba, who has quit Chelsea said that, “The eight years with Chelsea were the best of my career. Everybody knows my heart is blue. The next step is going to be interesting but for now you just have to wait to find out”.
When asked about MS Dhoni, the 34 year old Ivory Coast striker said that, “I know your captain though I cannot pronounce his name. I followed the last (Cricket) World Cup. The Indian team were the Champions. I think he (Dhoni) is a very good leader”.
