According to International Federation of Football History and Statistics (IFFHS), East Bengal has been placed among the top 450 Clubs of the World. The month earlier East Bengal were 549th in the rankings, but due to their AFC Cup victory they moved into the top 450.
East Bengal are joint 447th with AS FAR Rabat (Morocco), St. Mirren FC (Scotland), Omiya Ardija Saitama (Japan), Budapest Honvéd FC (Hungary) and CD Aurora Cochabamba (Bolivia) in the rankings. Top in this global club ranking is surprisingly FC Chelsea ahead of Club Atlético de Madrid, FC Bayern Munich, SC Corinthians Paulista São Paulo and former number one side FC Barcelona.
The IFFHS is an organisation that specialises in collating statistical data on global football and receives support and recognition from FIFA and the continental confederations.
