East Bengal dominated over less fancied rivals Sporting Clube De Goa, and stamped their supremacy with a 3-0 thrashing at the YBK, Salt Lake Stadium on Monday. The match though did not see any goals, right until the 76th minute, when Man of the Match Sanju Pradhan rounded off a solo effort, with a superb shot from just outside the box, past the goal keeper to break the deadlock.
It barely took a minute for the Red and Gold brigade to double their advantage. In form Australian striker, Tolgay Ozbey , who came on as a substitute in the 54th minute, netted East Bengal’s second in the 77th minute, with Sanju playing provider. And in the 82nd minute Robin Singh converted from a spotkick, after being brought down inside the box by Ashok Singh to make it 3-0 to the Bengal outfit.
With this win, East Bengal moves up to second place ,just behind League winners Dempo,and with just one more match to play, have 48 points from 25 games ,while Sporting are left with 37 points from the same number of games.
