Portugal will face defending champions Spain, in the first semi-final match of Euro 2012 on Wednesday.
Portugal and Spain have met three times in a major tournament. Both sides have each won once and drew the other game. In those three games, a total of four goals were scored.
Portugal are making their fourth semi-final appearance at European Championship finals (1984, 2000, 2004), while they have managed to reach the finals only once, on home soil in 2004.
In Euro 2012, Ronaldo has scored the last three goals for Portugal that included two game winners. The Portuguese Captain, has gained immense confidence, just when his country needs him the most.
Spain may likely use ball possession and one touch football to wear into the Portuguese but Spain knows the threat of Portugal’s attack.
The last time the side met in a competitive match was two years ago in 2010 World Cup South Africa where Spain edged out the Portuguese 1-0. This time however, Spain looks more on the weaker side, while Portugal looks stronger, especially having Ronaldo on their side.
Cristiano Ronaldo said that he is under no pressure to perform in the Euro Cup semi-final match against the defending champions,as his team prepares to go the distance and lift the Euro Championship.
