Shillong Lajong Football Club (SLFC) defeated Indian Football giants Dempo 2-1 to collect important four points from two matches in Federation Cup being held in Guwahati, India. Shillong Lajong registered their first win of the Federation Cup, as they stunned last year’s finalists Dempo 2-1 at the Nehru Stadium in Guwahati on Christmas Eve making the result a perfect gift to all the clubs fans and wellwishers. The result sees Dempo bow out of the tournament with two defeats in two games so far. Anil Gurung put Lajong ahead early in the first half, before a controversial Bedemi own goal brought the scores level. However, with Dempo down to ten men after Anwar was sent off, Lajong scored in the second half through a stunning Tuboi bicycle kick to win the game.
Lajong made three changes, as Gumpe in for Mawia, Kryshan, and Wailad came into the starting line up.
