Spanish footballer Marcos Alonso nicknamed as Marquitos passed away at the age of 78.
Marquitos played for Racing de Santander, Real Madrid, Hércules CF, Real Murcia, Calvo Sotelo and Toluca de Santander.
The famous defender is popularly known for his role in Real Madrid’s five European Cup conquests during the 1950s. He helped Madrid secure the 1960 Intercontinental Cup and six Spanish league titles from 1954-62.
His grandson Marcos Alonso is also a Spanish footballer and at present he is playing for Bolton Wanderers in the Premier League.
