The All India Football Federation organised an 8 day Goalkeeping seminar, the “Art of German Goalkeeping” under the guidance of the German Olympic Association(DOSB) and German Football Association (DFB) at the Cooperage ground in Mumbai.
The Seminar was conducted by former German goalkeeper Lutz Pfannenstiel and football scientist Felix Imm which comprised of both theoretical and practical sessions.
Rime, who is now the Goalkeeping Coach of Shillong Lajong FC attended the 8 day long seminar and said that, “This was my first time participating in a goalkeeping seminar and I appreciate the AIFF’s initiative. They emphasised on modern goalkeeping. The course was such a learning curve. It enlightened me to deal with young goalkeepers and the role of a goalkeeping coach was well defined too.”
Gumpe Rime, who is from Arunachal Pradesh, has been playing football for more than 18 years in different parts of the country.
The 37 year old former Goalkeeper, started his professional career with Mahindra United and went on to play for clubs like HAL SC, Salgaocar, Vasco,including Shillong Lajong FC for which he played for 3 years.
On the seminar, Gumpe further added that the AIFF Goalkeeping Coaches and also former India Goalkeeping Coaches were there including Tanumoy Basu and Yusuf Ansari. “It was such a good experience for me because I have always looked upto Tanumoy Basu during his playing days. Being on the same platform with him was an incredible experience for me as I have watched him play many years ago and it was a moment worth to cherish for the rest of my life.”
He signed off by adding that such goalkeeping courses or seminars are really important ,more so when experts and resource persons from abroad are involved.
