Head Coach Alison Kharsyntiew made 5 changes to Lajong’s Line Up as he brought on Klainbor Khongsit, Allen, Frolicson Dkhar, Rakesh and Sheen Stevenson Sohktung to the starting eleven.
Alison Kharsyntiew’s troops started brightly and were awarded a Free Kick in the 10th minute. The Reds worked the set piece well as Captain Hardy Cliff Nongrbi brilliantly converted it to give his team the lead.
Lajong Juniors undoubtedly were the more dominant side than their Shillong counterparts and just six minutes later doubled their lead.
Nabin was the provider this time as he put Sheen Steven Sohktung through to make it 2-0 for the Reds.
Royal Wahingdoh finally found their foot in the match and started to create chances for themselves. The Royals opened their account in the 34th minute when Sushil Meitei found the back of the net to reduce the deficit for his team. He went on to score the second goal for Wahingdoh in the 55th minute and levelled the tie.
As the second half wore on, both teams pressed hard and continued to create chances in front of goal in order to take the lead.
Lajong were finally rewarded for their perseverance. An unmarked Precious, fed the ball to Hardy who made no mistake as he slotted the ball home past the young Wahingdoh custodian in the 61st minute.
With no major events after that, Lajong bagged all the three points from their last match of the I-League U-19 Rest of India Group B Zone encounter.
However, both teams including Aizawl FC failed to qualify to the Final Round of the U-19 I-League this year, as Chanmari FC of Aizawl make it through to the Final Phase after their 3-1 win over Aizawl FC today.
