Kingfisher East Bengal defeated Chirag United Kerela 4-3, in the 25th round of the I-League at the Yuba Bharati Krinangan, Kolkata on Monday.
In the first session, East Bengal took a 1-0 lead with a brilliant strike by Penn Orji in the 25’. Tolgay Ozbey netted a brilliant solo effort in the 32’ and doubled the lead.
David Sunday was the hero for his team as he scored a sensational hat-trick in the 37’, 41’ and 48’ of the game and Chirag was leading 3-2.
Chirag United were not able to double their lead as East Bengal’s striker, Tolgay Ozbey, equalised in the 54’ as he netted his second goal of the game.
Both sides were 3-3 until Robin Singh scored the match winner in the 77’ and sealed victory for his team.
With this win, Kingfisher East Bengal are on the third place in the I-League standings with 44 points from 23 matches and will take on Dempo SC in their next match.
