Defending Champions, Shillong Lajong FC displayed a strong performance to beat Royal Wahingdoh FC 2-0 in the Gionee Shillong Premier League encounter at the JN Stadium Shillong today.
The first real chance of the match fell on to the Lajong youngsters in the fourth minute when Lajong got a corner kick. Bipin’s cross found Nim Dorjee Tamang but the later’s header went over the bar.
After a few minutes, Isaac Vanmalsawma was fed inside the box but his shot also went over the bar. The Reds finally took the lead when a Royal Wahingdoh player handled the ball inside the box and the referee awarded Lajong a penalty. Striker, Lalrammuana converted the penalty in the 23rd minute and gave Lajong the 1-0 lead.
Lajong were leading 1-0 at half time.
Just two minutes after the second half started Lajong youngsters doubled their lead against Royal Wahingdoh. Bipin Singh played down the ball well and crossed it to find Lalrammuana who successfully converted the chance into the back of the net.
Lajong youngsters won the match by 2-0 and remain on top of the Gionee Shillong Premier League Standings with 26 points from 11 matches.
They will play their next match against Nangkiew Irat on 18th October.
