Shillong Lajong FC registered their third consecutive victory after a 1-0 win over Local Rivals Royal Wahingdoh FC in the Shillong Premier League Super Division 2015 held today at the JN Stadium.
The first half saw both sides playing good football with attacking displays and some brilliant defending from both teams on a Saturday afternoon. However, neither side were able to break the deadlock and went into the break all square.
It was Samuel Lalmuanpuia who found the back of the net for Lajong in the second half of the match. Youngster Bipin Singh lobbed the ball to Lalmuanpuia, who chipped it past the Wahingdoh goalkeeper in the 77th minute.
This is Samuel’s second goal in three outings, while goalie Vishal Kaith also kept his third consecutive clean sheet, the only custodian to do so this season so far.
The young Lajong team aim to produce further solid displays of football in the coming matches as they seek to defend their SPL title. The Junior Reds next face Shillong United FC on September 16.
