Shillong Lajong Junior Boys advanced to the Finals of the Shillong Premier League 2014 after a 2-1 victory over Rangdajied United FC in a thrilling semi-final encounter held at the JN stadium Shillong on Tuesday.
Lajong midfielder, Lalrammuana, broke the deadlock when Bipin Singh set him up inside the box for a clean strike on goal in the 36th minute. The Junior Reds were the more dominant side throughout the first half and went into the break with a one goal cushion.
After the break, local rivals Rangdajied United FC managed to equalise when D.Pomtiah scored in the 53rd minute for the Blues.
Thereafter, the pressure built up and both sides were pressing hard to find the winning goal. It was a classic display of counter attack from both sides as plenty of opportunities came in the way but due to some brilliant defending and goalkeeping neither teams could take the lead.
Finally on stoppage time, Reds midfielder, Jacob, scored the winning goal via a brilliant free kick from outside the box, to give his team a well deserved victory.
The Junior Reds will play the Finals of the Shillong Premier League against Langsning FC on the 29th Of November at the JN Stadium Shillong at 1:45pm.
