Lajong Junior Reds Ready For The SPL 2014 Final Showdown

Shillong Lajong Junior Team is all set to take the Centre Stage in what will be their “Biggest Battle” as they face off local club Langsning Football Club in the Grand Final of the Shillong Premier League 2014 which promises to be a thrilling encounter. The match will kick off at 1:45pm at the JN Stadium Shillong on Saturday.

After 14 matches played, The Junior Team of Shillong Lajong FC remained at the top of the table with 30 points and dominated the league with their brilliant performance while Langsning FC stood in the second spot with 27 points.

The last time the two teams met was on the 20th of November-the first semi-finals encounter and the Junior Reds were just unlucky as Langsning emerged victorious with a 2-0 win.

Down But Not Out, the Lajong Juniors had to take on local rivals Rangdajied United FC on the 25th November in the second semi final to secure a berth in the Finals of SPL. The Junior Reds displayed an inspiring performance against the Blues and won by a scoreline of 2-1.

Coach Alison Kharsyntiew remains satisfied with the performance of his team and will be hoping to see them transform their good performance on the field to goals.

He said, “The morale of the team is excellent. We believe in being Together and United and that is what the boys have done and shown lately. They have been working extremely hard during the training sessions and we are looking for nothing less than a win and lift the Shillong Premier League trophy on Saturday.

The Lajong Junior Boys dominated the league and everyone worked hard to be at the top. They have been physically and mentally strong, remained focussed, confident and have also been helping each other out on the field.”

He further said, “Langsning is a strong and a tough team to beat and both the teams will fight hard to win the Shillong Premier League. It is a battle between the two best teams in the league and the Junior Reds have to focus harder and deliver a good performance.”

Come this Saturday, all roads will lead to the JN Stadium Shillong to witness the Finals of the Shillong Premier League Super Division. The Junior Reds will look to give “The Best Performance of their Lives” to bring home the trophy which the Club last won in the year 2006.
