Nangkiew Irat registered a 2-1 win over Shillong Lajong FC on Tuesday in Polo ground Shillong.
This is the first match that the Lajong juniors have lost from the four matches played in the U-18 Shillong Premier League.
Nangkiew Irat scored an early goal to take the lead in the match. H.Rangslang found the back of the net in the 3rd minute.
Lajong juniors equalized in the 65th minute with an easy tap in by Donbok which was assisted by Tridev.
Both teams pushed forward to find the winning goal and collect the three points in order to better their position in the table.
In the 77th minute, Samuel Kynshi of Lajong made a good run from the left and shot from outside the box but the Nangkiew keeper dived to deny Lajong the lead in the game.
As the match wore on both teams were pressing hard and it was Nangkiew Irat who managed to get past the Lajong defense. R.Buam scored in the 88th minute to help his team regain the lead.
Towards the end of the game, the Lajong juniors started combining well up front in search of the equalizer. Apborlang took an ambitious shot from outside the box but it could only hit the post.
The referee of the day, eventually blew his final whistle and ended the match with the score line 2-1 in favor of Nangkiew Irat SC.
Shillong Lajong juniors will take on Langsning on the 10th June.
