Lajong vs Boys Sports Coy

Shillong Lajong FC defeated Boys Sports Coy 58 GTC today by two goals to nil in the second round encounter of Shillong Premier League 2017 at the JN Stadium Shillong.
The defending champions, Shillong Lajong got their first chance in the third minute of the match. Redeem Tlang striked a powerful shot from just outside the box but the Boys Sports keeper made a save to deny the Reds the early lead in the game.
Boys Sports got a good chance from long range on target in the 30th minute but Lajong keeper, Phurba Lachenpa was alert and tipped it over the crossbar to deny them the goal.
As the game wore on, the Reds kept on pushing forward in search of the elusive goal and finally in the 34th minute, Samuel Lalmuanpuia converted his chance into goal and gave Lajong the crucial lead. Few minutes later, Lajong came very close to double their lead but Redeem’s shot from inside the box went just inches wide.
Lajong went into the break with a one goal lead.
The game in the second half started to get very physical and Boys Sports were looking very desperate for the equalizer. Two of their players were cautioned in a span of five minutes and the Blues were losing composure and failed to combine well with each other.
Lajong however, remained calm and composed and were advancing forward continuously determined to score another goal. Then in the 75th minute, Hardy Cliff Nongbri doubled the lead for Lajong after he headed the ball from close range through a Redeem Tlang’s cross.
The match ended in Shillong Lajong’s favor and are now on Four points from two matches played thus far.
