Manchester City registered a 4-0 win over Newcastle in the Premier League on Saturday at the Etihad Stadium.
City are still 15 points behind league leaders Manchester United with eight games to play, though the two sides meet at Old Trafford next Monday, 8 April
Carlos Tevez opened the scoring four minutes before half-time when he nipped in front of Jonas Gutierrez to divert Gael Clichy’s cross past Newcastle goalkeeper Rob Elliot.
Manchester City scored their second goal in first-half injury-time, when David Silva thumped a finish past Elliot from the left channel after a cute threaded pass from Samir Nasri.
In the 56th minute Vincent Kompany scored on his return to the side after a two-month injury lay-off.
In the 69th minute, Yaya Toure tanked his way past three men on the right-hand side of the box, and his shot deflected off James Perch and beat Elliot at the near post.
