Manchester City mounted the pressure for League leaders Manchester United, and reduced the lead to 5 points, thrashing West Brom Albion at the Etihad Stadium. The lead came as early as the 5th minute, when an unchallenged Sergio Aguero thumped the ball from 25 yards out to beat Ben Foster. It was a good game for the Argentine, who netted his second in the 54th minute.
The attack combination of Carlos Tevez, Aguero, and David Silva was clearly too much to handle for the Baggies backline as they conceded two more goals in the space of 3 minutes: Carlos Tevez scored his first goal of the season ,after which he was substituted by Adam Johnson. The final blow for West Brom came from a David Silva strike, and the win, coupled with United’s loss to Wigan, could be a lifeline for the Roberto Mancini’s men.
