Mumbai FC took an early lead when Justine Stephen found the net in the 18th minute ,and quickly doubled the gap when Gabriel Fernandes scored in the 20th minute. The home team had better possession of the ball and managed to keep the Reds at bay, right upto the first half.
The away side then started the 2nd half on a more positive note, and made it count when Sushil Kumar Singh managed to pull one back for Shillong Lajong in the 75th minute to raise hopes of a Lajong comeback.
However,Justine Stephen added his second and Mumbai’s 3rd to further peg back the visiting side in the 82nd minute, and restored the home team’s two goal cushion.
Substitute ND Opara then completed the formalities with an injury time strike and ensured that Mumbai FC take all 3 points which were up for grabs,and their second consecutive victory.
