The final 20 players to take part in the 66th edition of The National Football Championship for the Santosh Trophy, to be held from May 11 to May 27 have been finalised by the Meghalaya Football Association.
The MFA had organised an open trial cum selection camp and selected the squad to represent Meghalaya this year for the championship.
Niwan-O-Gathphoh, former Shillong Lajong FC midfielder has been named captain of the Meghalaya state team. The team includes young players as well as experienced players who have played in the I-League 2nd Division this season.
The MFA has appointed L. Darlong as the coach of the Meghalaya state team.
Meghalaya has been placed in Cluster III along with Chandigarh, Madhya Pradesh and Pondicherry. The state team will be playing their matches on May 11 against Pondicherry, May 13 against Madhya Pradesh and May 15 against Chandigarh.
