Switzerland defender Michel Morganella has been expelled from the Olympics for making insulting remarks on social media after his side’s 2-1 defeat to South Korea on Sunday.
Michel Morganella, 23, posted on Twitter an offensive message directed at South Korean people. He later apologised for the comment before his account was deleted.
The Swiss Olympic Committee confirmed on Monday afternoon that Morganella had been expelled.
Morganella, who plays for Serie A side Palermo is the second athlete to be sent home from the London Olympics after Greek triple jumper Voula Papachristou was expelled for making comments mocking African immigrants.
