With the fear of being relegated Mumbai FC had to settle with a 1-1 draw against Pailan Arrows in the 24th round of I-League football at the Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex, Balewadi, on Tuesday.
In the first half, Mumbai FC had taken an early lead in the 29’with Abhishek Yadav producing a brilliant strike. The hosts had more possession and did all the attacking as the three points were immensely crucial for Khalid Jamil and his boys to avoid the danger zone.
The home side tried doubling their lead with Cavin Lobo producing a brilliant effort but failed to convert as his shot came back off the post.
After the interval, the Kolkata outfit pressed hard for an equaliser and were more dominant with majority of ball possession.
Pailan Arrows finally equalised with Alwyn George netting in the 72’ .
Towards the end, both the sides tried to double the lead but once the referee blew the whistle, it signalled Mumbai FC’s inability to take home all the three crucial points.
With this draw Mumbai FC now have 21 points from 24 matches while Pailan Arrows are at 9 points from 21 matches.
