Pailan Arrows registered their first win in the I-League 2011-12 season, defeating Chirag United Kerela 3-0, at the Nehru stadium in Kochi.
With this win, Pailan Arrows move to 13 points from 24 matches while with this loss, Chirag United Kerela are the second team to be relegated who stay on 17 points from 24 matches.
It was Pailan Arrows, who drew first blood with C S Sabeeth scoring in the 33’. He doubled the lead for Arrows in the 45’ putting the Kerela side in touching distance of the relegation zone.
Sabeeth went on to score a hat-trick, when he converted a penalty in the 90’ as Sherin Sam brought down Pailan’s George Alwyn in the box. He was adjudged man-of-the-match for his outstanding performance.
Pailan Arrows which is an All India Football Federation’s (AIFF) developmental team, had been winless throughout the season.
