Both sides played out a goalless draw when they met each other in October last year in front of a packed JN Stadium in Shillong. These two sides will definitely look to snatch the three crucial points in order to better their position in the I-League standings.
The host are coming into this match after they played out a goalless draw against the Mumbaikars while it was a major upset for the Shillong side as they lost 3-1 to Salgaocar FC in Goa last week. With this loss, Lajong dropped to the fifth position with 24 points and Salgaocar climbed one spot higher than the former and have 27 points.
The Reds will continue to miss the services of Milan Singh who is out for the rest of the season due to injury which has been a major setback for the Shillong outfit. Taisuke, Boithang along with Lalramluaha are expected to play a crucial role at the center of the park and provide a good support for strikers Uilliams, Cornell Glen and Durga Boro.
Pune FC have recently inked the deal with Australian striker Mirjan Pavlovic who will be eager to score goals and also help his team win the match tomorrow who are very close in occupying the top spot in the I-League.
Coach Thangboi Singto said, “We have been away from home for almost three weeks. But the morale at the moment is good and the team is ready to go all out tomorrow.”
“We will play for a win tomorrow and hopefully the boys will deliver a good performance against the second best team in the I-League. It is going to be a tough match as Pune FC is a very strong team in all aspects.”
The last time Lajong won a match was in the round 16th of the I-League against Dempo by a scoreline of 2-1 while Pune won 2-1 against United SC in the 15th round of the I-League. Come 8th of March 2014, all roads will lead to the Balewadi Stadium, in what will be an interesting encounter with both teams aiming for a victory.
