Pune FC has taken the second spot in the I-League standings after a 6-4 victory over HAL Bangalore on Tuesday.
HAL Bangalore were leading by a Rohit Chand goal in the very first minute, but Pune FC came back strongly and went on to take a 4-1 lead in the first session with goals from Subhas Singh(9’), Mandjou Keita(34’35’)and Douhaou Pierre(44’) respectively.
In the second session Subhas Singh got his second goal in the 66’ and Pune FC looked more comfortable with a 5-1 lead until HAL’s Jagaba Amaba scored in the 69’ and Rohit Chand went on to score a hat trick with his second and third goal coming in the 72’ and 86’, respectively.
The Bangalore side started putting more pressure on the visitors as the score was 5-4 in the 86’. HAL pushed hard for the equaliser but their hopes were shattered as Pune FC bagged all the three points with Maninder Singh’s winning goal in the 88’ which doubled the lead to 6-4.
After a thrilling encounter with HAL in Bangalore on Tuesday, Pune FC is at second place in the I-League table with 42 points from 23 matches. HAL, however, is the first team to be relegated from the I-League 2011-12 season with only 8 points from 23 matches.
