Wayne Rooney’s 21st goal of the season helped Manchester United nosed ahead past Manchester City, and the Red Devils are now three points clear of their title rivals. Rooney scored in the 42nd minute from a Johny Evans cross, and that was enough for United to garner all three points.
It was Manchester who dominated proceedings thoroughout the game and Fulham never really looked like troubling the Manchester backline. Clint Dempsey, their most prolific forward had an off day, although he did created some chances along with Moussa Dembele and Pavel Pogrebnyak.
Manchester have now pocketed 73 points from 30 matches, as compared to City’s 70 from the same number of matches, and a record 20th league title now looks really possible for the current league leaders.
