In what was a booking-strewn encounter, Royal Wahingdoh eked out a 2-2 stalemate against local rivals Nangkiew Irat SC at the J N Stadium yesterday in the Shillong Premier League opening match. The match saw the referee flashing out as many as three red cards and numerous cautions. Nangkiew were leading 2-0 right till half time, courtesy a mix up between Wahingdoh custodian Widen Kharsati and a defender: and a second through a Chesterpaul Lyngdoh strike in added time of the first half.
The second half saw Royal Wahingdoh giving themselves a perfect start when they scored their first goal in the 61st minute , through a powerful strike from Pynshai Myrsing. And substitute Kenneth Thabah made it 2-2 with a cool finish past the keeper.
The later stages of the game saw the cautions piling up and also the sending off of three players in total, but neither team could score further and the game ended with the scores levelled at 2-2.
