Royal Wahingdoh FC defeated Shillong Lajong FC 2-0, in the ongoing Shillong Premier League at the JN Stadium Shillong on Tuesday.
The game was played evenly in both teams’ halves, with both teams having equal share of ball possession. But it was Royal Wahingdoh who took the lead through Beekee Bowar, when he netted in the 48th minute, through a well found cross.The game picked up soon after the first goal,as Shillong came close to finding the equaliser on numerous occasions.
The Lajong defence was caught in their opponents’ counter attack,which Royal Wahingdoh took advantage of and doubled the lead, through a beautiful calculated curler by Bickyson Kharkongor in the 74th minute. The game was evenly poised with the second goal, but Shillong Lajong were unlucky to be not awarded a penalty,when a Wahingdoh defender handled the ball inside the box.The referee however felt otherwise and play continued.
The match ended with Royal Wahingdoh maintaining their 2 goal advantage,and putting one over their local rivals.
