Salgaocar pipped Chirag United Kerela 1-0, in an evenly contested I-League match at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Fatorda on Sunday.
The Goan side dominated the proceedings and created many chances and opened the scoring in the 30’, which was the only goal of the match, after Ryuji Sueoka passed the ball to Luciano Sobrosa who slotted the ball into the back of the net from close range.
The Goan giants also had two goals ruled out offside by referee Andrew Shekar.
The visitors also had a couple of chances but failed to convert any of them.
Chirag United who have been relegated will be playing in next season’s second division I-League.
Salgaocar SC,now have 43 points from 25 matches and will be playing their last match against Shillong Lajong FC on Friday,in Shillong.
