Salgaocar, I-League club from Goa, which is currently placed at the bottom of the table has signed Singapore International John Wilkinson and will replace striker Sean Rooney in the I-League 2012-13 season.
According to reports, striker Sean Rooney, failed to live up to the expectation of the team’s management in the ongoing I-League. “Rooney’s style is different from what we need. That has deprived us of the required fire-power upfront. It was a decision which has been mutually taken by the club and Rooney,” said Gomes.
The 33 year old Singapore International will join the team next month and he has also donned Exeter City colours for six years before moving to Singapore in 2002.
Wilkinson has played for three clubs in Singapore before becoming a Singapore citizen and winning 29 international caps. He started his career in Singapore with Woodlands Wellington before joining Geylang United FC and later joined Singapore Armed Fores FC in 2006.
