SHEFFIELD F.C. – the World’s Oldest Football Club coming to Shillong, To play a Friendly match against one of the Youngest Indian Football teams Shillong Lajong Football Club.
For all football fans of the North East, it will be a rare chance to be a part of the history during 16th November, 2010. For the first time ever, Sheffield F.C. The World’s Oldest Football Club will be in the city of Shillong during 15th & 16th November, 2010. During this historical TWO day tour they will play a Friendly match against Shillong Lajong F.C. on 16th November, 2010 at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Shillong.
Sheffield Football Club was established in 1857 much before F.A., England & FIFA. Sheffield Football Club’s influence on the modern game cannot be overstated. In the year 1861, they pioneered the writing of a commonly accepted set of rules, played a key role in the formation of the FA and were involved in a host of innovations such as the first crossbar, the first corner kick, the first free kick and the first floodlit match.
Sheffield F.C. is coming to India for the first time ever primarily to participate in the Mohammedan Sporting Platinum Jubilee Cup to be held at Kolkata during 12th & 14th November and then on 15th November onwards they will be in Shillong.
This historical match will be played at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Shillong at 2 p.m. onwards on the 16th November, 2010. The tickets for the match are priced at a nominal Rs. 100 & Rs. 200 and will be on sale very soon.
Sheffield FC will arrive at the city on November 15, 2010.
