In what will be a crucial 21st round encounter,Shillong Lajong FC will take on Chirag United Kerela, who are placed 2 spots below them. The Shillong outfit will look to take home all 3 points from their rivals, who are fighting for survival in the league.
For Coach Pradyum Reddy, the team will settle for nothing less than a win,as Shillong Lajong looks to resume the season on a winning note.According to him,it is imperative that his team gets the full 3 points,as Lajong FC are aiming to touch the 40 point mark at the end of the season.
The team which took part in the recently concluded E.K Nayanar Tournament, has benefitted greatly from this,as it gave the newly signed players that much needed match practice. It has also helped them in adjusting and playing their game, in the “Lajong Way”.It also helped the players in getting acclimatised themselves to the humid conditions of Kerela, although coach Reddy firmly believes that the weather must not be use as an excuse,as it is the same for both teams.
Coach Reddy also commented on the opposing team and said that,”They are a very attacking team that can cause a lot of problems with the pace they possess amongst their ranks. They have given all the I-League teams a very tough time this season but have been unfortunate to be edged out by a singe goal on numerous occassions. Given the change in coach during the break, it’s a bit difficult to predict how they will line up tomorrow, but given their position in the table one expects them to put up a very tough fight”.
The team had their practice session at the Jawaharlal Nehru stadium at Kaloor, and the pitch is expected to be favourable for a fast paced game.
For this game and the rest of the I-League season, John Menyongar will re-don the captain’s armband, and with pretty much the first team back in action, the coach expects a good and a positive fight from his boys tomorrow.
