North East giants Shillong Lajong FC will take on Mumbai FC in the ongoing I-League on the 4th of April 2012, at Balewadi Sports Complex, Pune.
This is the 3rd time in this season that Lajong has gone through a consecutive defeat and now Coach Reddy and his boys are working hard on the defence area in order to achieve a positive performance and result.
Lajong hopes to get back to their winning ways by grabbing all the three important points from tomorrow’s match.
Captain John Menyongar and his mates are ready for the next challenge against Mumbai FC, no matter the pressure, their aim is to play “attacking and ball possession” football.
Mumbai FC,though are in a must-win situation, and will try to put up an attacking show, since they also need three crucial points.
Coach Reddy said,” Mumbai FC are a very difficult side to face, as they are in a must win situation like Chirag Kerela. This makes them a lot more dangerous an opponent than when we last faced them. Their threat from set-pieces is well known and they have caught out many good teams with their long throws & direct approach play. Their significant height advantage also makes them a threat at set-pieces & we expect an aerial bombardment from them”.
The team had a practice session today from 10 to 11 am. Coach Reddy said that, “We had to make use of a small uneven ground behind the main stadium for the past 2 days. It’s all part of the gamesmanship one can expect at this stage in the season, so it shouldn’t distract us from the task in hand”.
Shillong Lajong is hoping to bounce back with a victory as their performance in the past 2 matches has been a major disappointment not only for the club but also for their fans and supporters. The boys are playing some good possession football, but they need to convert this advantage into goals to relieve pressure.
Coach Reddy further added, “The boys are happy to be back in Pune , as this venue has fond memories of us this season. We have a better record at the Balewadi complex this season than at JN Stadium in Shillong. The boys looked relaxed today at the hotel and they know that they played well in the last game & were unfortunate to be on the losing side having created so many chances.
“The team morale couldn’t be better, as the boys are looking to prove the critics wrong by putting in another stellar performance in Pune & finishing the season on a high”, he said.
