In what was the penultimate day of practice, Shillong Lajong FC went through another productive outing at the Jawaharlal Nehru turf this morning, as they wrapped up last minute team strategies and physical training. The team is ready to take the challenge against Sporting Club De Goa, who had their own session at the J.N Stadium.
For Shillong Lajong FC, the home ground advantage will be a key factor in tomorrow’s game and according to Matthew Mayora, having the vociferous crowd behind them will be a huge boost to the team morale. Mayora also said that tomorrow’s game is a big game, and a win is imperative. He is confident that the team will put the last defeat away from home behind, as the morale is quite upbeat in the Lajong camp.
When asked about the match tomorrow, Coach Pradhyum Reddy, said that Sporting Club De Goa is an attacking team, who can “hurt” any team, irrespective of table standings. The defence line as such needs to be strong. The team has to defend as a unit. He also conceded that playing in front of the home crowd will be both an advantage and extra pressure on the team, but the players should be able to handle the pressure. He also expects tomorrow’s game to be a high scoring one, given both the teams’ ability to score quick goals.
While commenting on the windy conditions, Coach Pradhyum Reddy quipped that the weather might have an interesting say on the game, and the players need to adjust accordingly.
