In what was a display of total dominance by Shillong Lajong Football Club’s Under-19 boys, the Reds outplayed local team Malki SC by 4 goals to 1, at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Shillong.
Lajong dominated the proceedings of the match, and deservedly drew first blood through Ksankupar Khongmalai. Malki restored parity through a penalty kick shortly though in the first half. At the end of the first half, the game was evenly poised at 1-1.
On the other side of the break though, the Lajong lads made merry of Malki’s defence and pumped in as many as three goals, with mid-fielder Redeem Tlang helping himself to all the goals scored, including one from the spot, and bagging the first hat-trick for his team.
Commenting on the performance of the boys, Shillong Lajong Manager S. Sana said that it was a good display of football by the team, and the scoreline could have been much bigger if his boys had converted all their chances of scoring. The team will now take on Lawmali Pyllun SC on Saturday, the 26th May 2012.
