Shillong Lajong Football Club overcame a dogged resistance from Lawmali Pyllun SC to triumphed 2-1 in a keenly contested encounter in the 2nd leg of the Shillong Premier League at the J.N Stadium in Polo. In- form PC Lalhimthara scored a brace to add to his goal tally in the league.
The forward scored his and his team’s first goal in the 25th minute of play when he shot past the keeper from a Jibon Singh cross. He then doubled his tally in the 36th minute with a header for a two goal cushion.
Crossing over, Lawmali started to play more attractive and attacking football and it showed when Kitbor Thangkhiew finally pulled one back for his team in the 55th minute from a set piece, which breached the wall and past the Lajong keeper Basant Singh.
Soon after the goal Lawmali tried to get the all important equalizer but the Lajong backline were equal to the task and after the end of regulation time, the score read 2-1 in favour of Shillong Lajong Football Club.
