Kohima : The Nagaland Premier League which is the official football league in the state of Nagaland kicked off on the 2nd of March 2012 at 2 pm in the local ground of Kohima and it was inaugurated by the Chief Minister of Nagaland, Sri. Neiphiu Rio.
The Pride of the North East, Shillong Lajong FC were invited to play for an exhibition match against Life Sports FC, a club from Nagaland, during the opening ceremony of the inaugural of Nagaland Premier League. The fans from Nagaland witnessed the presence of SLFC for the first time in action with the two teams performing exceptionally well and the event was a grand success.
SLFC were leading 2-0 during half- time and defeated Life Sport FC 4-0. The main highlight of the game was Tuboi scoring 3 goals and Christopher scored 1 which led Lajong to Victory. The 442 Management were immensely pleased that SLFC was able to be a part of the opening ceremony of NPL as the management believes that Shillong Lajong FC is the ultimate role model for Nagaland clubs to emulate professionally.
