The U-13 Youth League ROI (Rest of India Zone) Group A –kicked off today at the Mawlai Ground in Shillong and Shillong Lajong Academy boys registered a thrilling 8-0 win over Guwahati Town Club.
Caldolan Kharmawphlang opened the account as early as in the 2nd minute of the match and just five minutes later, Lajong Academy Boys took a 2-0 lead after Wadajied Ryngkhlem converted the penalty.
The U-13 Youth League is being played for a total of 70 minutes.
In the 26th minute of the first half, Gladdy Kharbuli scored from close range and the Junior Reds went into the break with a three-goal cushion.
After the lemon break, the young Reds continued to dominate a majority of the ball possession in the game and were passing the ball very well up front and finding many more chances at goal in the second half.
In the 42nd minute, Meshanskhem Marbaniang scored from inside the box and the lead was extended to four goals. In the 53rd minute, Hamedamanbha Wahlang was also on target and registered his name on the score sheet after his shot sailed to the top corner of the net, thereby scoring Lajong’s goal number five.
Wadajied Ryngkhlem completed his brace after he scored a stunning free kick in the 56th minute while Batskhemlang Jyrwa netted from the centre of the box in the 58th minute. Lajong Academy Boys scored their last goal of the match in the 64th minute after Batskhemlang Jyrwa was fed with a good ball inside the box and made no mistake to slot the ball home, also scoring his second goal of the match.
Some of these boys are also part of the U-14 squad that is currently playing the U-14 SSA Football Tournament in Shillong and have also advanced to the Semi-final Round after winning all their matches in the group stage grabbing big margin victories over local teams.
All the matches will be held at the Mawlai Ground in Shillong and will conclude on 14th February 2018. Shillong Lajong Junior Reds will play their second game against Tata Football Academy on 10th February, followed by Rangdajied on 12th February and SAI Kolkata on 14th February.
