Shillong Lajong FC Junior Reds displayed a stunning performance against Rangdajied United FC, in the opening match of the Under 18 Shillong Premier League 2016. The junior Reds won the match with a scoreline of 6-2 that was played today at Polo Ground, Shillong.
Lajong juniors started the match brightly and clearly dominated proceedings in both halves. The first goal of the match was scored by Lajong through Novin Gurung in the 17th minute after an assist by Damiki as the former curled the shot from the right to beat the keeper from 20 yards.
Lajong youngsters doubled the lead in the 23rd minute after midfielder Tridev Boro found his name on the scoresheet. Lajong forward, Donboklang scored the third goal in the 28th minute after a second assist by Damiki from the central midfield.
Rangdajied however applied pressure in the front and got their first goal of the match through B. Nongsteng in the 29th minute. Lajong restored the 3 goal cushion in the 34th minute after right back Apdorlang Kurbah took a long range shot to beat the keeper. The game was very entertaining as Rangdajied scored their second goal in the 44th minute through W. Marbaniang. The first half ended 4-2 in favour of the junior Reds.
The second half was a much tighter contest as both teams were pressing forward. Lajong scored their 5th and 6th goal in the 87th minute through Tridev Boro and Donboklang Lyngdoh in the 90th minute respectively.
Lajong juniors will played their next match on the 26th May against Nongkrem SC.
